Ayurveda is a 5,000 year old system of medicine from India teaching us we are all governed by the principles of the 5 elements. By combining the elements, we get the three doshas, or body/mind constitutions;
Vata - Ether + Air: Universal force of movement, irregularity, creativity, inspiration Pitta - Fire + Water: Universal force of transformation, digestive fire, clarity, discernment Kapha - Water + Earth: Universal force of structure, stability, immunity, strength
While all three doshas are present in every person, each of us has our own unique combination usually resulting in the predominance of one over the other two.
